As you have probably already gathered, a lot goes into achieving your dream countertops. This involves much more than matching colors and providing your surfaces with the proper care. In fact, the process even requires math! In this lesson, you will learn about crucial aspects in the process of providing you with your dream countertops: templating and quoting. Both of these aspects involve a lot of math. If you have not been a big fan of math in the past, do not worry. Math applied to countertops is much more fun than the basic math worksheets that you did in high school!

Templating

Templating is the process of developing a countertop template that allows the fabricator to know the exact measurements of a new countertop. Without a template, the fabricator would not have an accurate idea of the exact shape and measurements the countertop requires. Before a template can be made, homeowners must make sure that all cabinets are installed and that all appliances are on-site. Upon doing so, a skilled and trained technician arrives to take the measurements. That is right, Cameo Countertops, Inc. will do the measuring so you do not have to. The technician will use a high-intensity laser that sends information to a computer. The computer records various points to create accurate dimensions. The technician will also add in pertinent details, like overhangs, backsplashes, specialty cuts, cutouts for sinks and faucets, and seams that are factored into the project. After this, the measurements are double-checked to make sure that they are completely accurate. It is crucial that the measurements are exact, or else it could hinder the entire project. At the facility, the template is then laid out on the surface of the stone. Finally, the stone can be cut using cutting edge machinery. Now, it is a custom made countertop just for your project!

Quoting

A quote is the most recent price that a buyer and seller agreed upon for a transaction. Receiving price quotes for your new countertops can be unnerving, as the final cost of an installation far too often seems to vary from your initial quote. If you are trying to stick to a budget, it is crucial that the price you expect is the price that you pay. Cameo Countertops, Inc. understands that surprises in cost are never welcomed, so we price a little differently than some of our competitors. Some companies price by square foot, using non bundled pricing; however, because we highly value transparency, we implement bundled pricing. Bundled pricing means that each square foot of counter includes standard edgework, rounded corners, and seams if necessary. For instance, some of our competitors may advertise lower square foot pricing, but later implement additional fees for details such as shapes, seams, basic edge profiles, and more. For this reason, when you receive an initial quote, other fabricators may appear cheaper because they are not disclosing the added fees. Cameo Countertops, Inc, on the other hand, strives to price as accurately as possible from the start in order to avoid any surprises after template. So long as the drawing you supply for the initial quote is reasonably accurate, you can expect that the price we quote will be as well. Bundled pricing allows you to properly estimate the cost of the full project, not just the countertop material used.

You now know about some of the math that plays a major roll in creating your custom countertops. Without math, we would not be able to make countertops that are perfectly suited to your project. In fact, they would likely not fit at all. Regardless of how you feel about the subject, you can thank math class for giving you your dream countertops!
