Frequently Asked Questions

Is Corian® stain resistant?

Corian® is stain resistant. Because Corian® is non-porous, stains can't penetrate the surface, so it's easy to clean and maintain. Unlike natural stone, Corian® never needs to be sealed.

Is Corian® heat resistant?

Placing a hot pot directly on Corian® is not recommended. Although Corian® remains stable and undamaged in temperatures up to 212 F (100 C), high heat or flame will damage your surface. In most cases, this damage can be repaired. To protect your Corian® from heat damage, always use a hot pad or trivet with rubber feet when using hot pots or heat generating appliances like electric skillets or electric cooking pots.

How do I clean my Corian®?

Corian® is easy to clean. Soapy water or ammonia-based cleaner is all that is necessary for day-to-day care for your Corian®. Minor scratches, burns, or discoloration are also easy to repair using Soft Scrub Cleanser and Scotch Brite (green) pad. Refer to your Corian® Care Kit for directions or contact Cameo Countertops.

Can I cut directly on my Corian®?

It is recommended that you always use a cutting board when cutting on your Corian® since the knife blade will scratch the surface of your Corian®.

Who do I call if I notice a crack, chip, or any other damage to my Corian®?

If you notice that your Corian® is cracked or damaged in any way, and it is still under the original 10-year warranty, contact DuPont directly at 1-800-426-7426

What care and maintenance does Corian Quartz® require?

Corian Quartz® surfaces are very easy to maintain because they are durable, nonporous and chemical resistant. They require no sealants or waxes to retain their lustrous gloss and ultra-smooth surface. Routine cleaning may be done with a damp cloth or paper towel and, if necessary, a small amount of non-bleach, non-abrasive cleanser.

Will Corian Quartz® withstand heat, scratches and stains?

Corian Quartz® is resistant to heat, scratching and stains. However, the use of trivets or hot pads is recommended. A cutting board should be used when slicing or chopping, especially with a serrated knife. Spills should be wiped up quickly; non-abrasive cleaning pads and non-bleach cleaning products may be used to remove stubborn or dried spills.

Can Corian Quartz® be used for food preparation areas?

Corian Quartz® is non-porous and can be used in the kitchen or wherever food is prepared.

Who do I call if I notice a crack, chip or any other damage to my Corian Quartz®?

If you notice that your Corian Quartz® is cracked or damaged in any way, and it is still under the original 10-year warranty, contact DuPont directly at 1-800-426-7426.

Does Granite have a warranty?

Granite does not come with a material warranty. We make every effort to provide the highest quality natural stones and workmanship to minimize any potential material failures.

Is Granite heat proof?

Although Granite is more heat resistant than Quartz or Solid Surface it is not heat proof. Soapstone is considered heat proof in a kitchen environment.

Do sealers prevent staining?

No, sealers are intended to increase a stones resistance to staining but cannot make the stone stain proof. Impregnating sealers are used to allow the stone to resist the stain long enough for it to be cleaned in a reasonable timeframe. Granite is typically in the middle regarding stain resistance, amongst commonly used stones, with Soapstone being the most naturally stain resistant and marble being the least. All stone once sealed is relatively easy to live with although Marble is recommended to have a honed finish in the Kitchen.

How do I know when my countertops need to be sealed again?

The water test is the easiest method to confirm sealer performance. In a well-lit area on your countertop pour a small amount of water to form a puddle about the size of an egg. Wait 20 minutes and then wipe the area dry. If the area appears darker after it is dry it is time to seal your countertops. Cameo is happy to perform this service for a reasonable fee.
